Mabel Elizabeth Ament was born October 20, 1878, in Muscatine, Iowa. She was the second of six children born to Joseph Pettus and Abigail C. (Martin) Ament. Mabel's parents were divorced about 1894. In 1900, Mabel was living in Chicago, Illinois, with her mother and her brother, Vernon. She was working as a saleslady in a dry goods store.
On June 25, 1902, Mabel married Henri Debonneville Marguerat in Chicago. They had two daughters, Claire and Helen; but, were divorced on November 24, 1908.
Mable homesteaded in Dawson County, Montana, in 1913. She was married to Frank Markey on June 18, 1918, in Glendive, Montana. They were divorced in about 1920. She married again, on January 4, 1921. He new husband, and the man with whom she spent the rest of her life, was Alfred Bennett Rowe. They married in Billings, Montana.
Al and Mabel had ownership in a restaurant and a hotel at Yellowstone Park in the 1930s-1940s. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona, probably in about 1949, where Mabel died on March 6, 1966. Al preceded her in death.
